L'amour Bleu Cast Heart - Frame 14A

At the center of this piece is the L'amour Bleu Heart, uniquely cast from transparent blue and opaque cobalt blue art glasses. The distinctive glass heart is positioned on a handmade, three-dimensional frame specifically designed to complement the heart. This particular frame is kilncarved from transparent blue and opaque white and cobalt glasses. The art work is hung using a two-part aluminum French cleat (included). Signed on reverse side. Approximate size: 6.5"w x 6.5"h x .67"d.

About Blue:
Depending on the tint, tone or shade, blue can reference tranquility, calmness, confidence, intelligence and creativity.  Blue can also describe a sense of sadness or gloominess as in the 1967 song entitled, L'amour Est Bleu where the lyrics use colors and elements to describe the pleasure and pain of love. 

How It's Made:
This unique, handmade art glass piece is created over several weeks incorporating various kilnforming techniques and processes including kiln casting, kilncarving, grinding, sandblasting and polishing. Four separate kiln firings are required to complete.

- All art work is handmade by Robert Wiener in the DC Art Glass Studio. Kilnforming is a method of shaping glass in a kiln using heat and gravity. Techniques used by the artist include fusing, slumping, casting, printmaking and coldworking. It is common of kilnformed glass to have slight color shifts and small "champagne" bubbles.
