Black Graffiti Songbird is created from an opaque art glass that has a mix of black and red with an occasional splash of gray. Accents are in cobalt, black, red and yellow. The body color-mix varies with each bird, so each is unique. Closely related to the Black & Blue Songbirds. Display all year round. Approximate size: 5"w x 2.5"h x 3/8"d.

Incidental Bird Fact:
The word "graffiti" is from the italian word "graffiato", meaning "scratched". Two street artists that highlight birds in their work are Luis Seven Martins (L7M), from Brazil, and ROA, from Belgium. While L7M uses bold lines and colors to mix realism and the abstract, ROA uses a minimal color palette to create birds and animals native to the area being painted. Both artists travel the world sharing their public creations.

- All art work is handmade by Robert Wiener in the DC Art Glass Studio. Kilnforming is a method of shaping glass in a kiln using heat and gravity. Techniques used by the artist include fusing, slumping, casting, printmaking and coldworking. It is common of kilnformed glass to have slight color shifts and small "champagne" bubbles.
