Yellow Rainbow Square's body is created from iridized transparent yellow art glass. Advanced formulated rainbow dichroic glass is used for the wing and tail accent, while two-toned dichroic glass make up the eye and beak. Dichroic glass shifts in color depending on the angle of view and lighting conditions, so expect these sections to vary in color. Each bird is unique. Display all year round. Approximate size: 5"w x 2.5"h x 3/8"d.
Incidental Bird Fact:
Bird watchers use the following four keys of visualization to identify many species with just a glance: size & shape, color pattern, behavior and habitat. Yellow immediately suggests a warbler or the Western Tanager.
- All art work is handmade by Robert Wiener in the DC Art Glass Studio. Kilnforming is a method of shaping glass in a kiln using heat and gravity. Techniques used by the artist include fusing, slumping, casting, printmaking and coldworking. It is common of kilnformed glass to have slight color shifts and small "champagne" bubbles.
