Red & White Songbird is created from a translucent deep red art glass with a slight white streak. White and red are used as accents. The mix of translucent red and faint white streak varies, so each bird is unique. Display all year round. Approximate size: 5"w x 2.5"h x 3/8"d.
Incidental Bird Fact:
Unlike many species of songbirds, both male and female Northern Cardinals sing. Males sing during courtship and when defending the nest. Females sing from the next, signaling the need to bring food.
- All art work is handmade by Robert Wiener in the DC Art Glass Studio. Kilnforming is a method of shaping glass in a kiln using heat and gravity. Techniques used by the artist include fusing, slumping, casting, printmaking and coldworking. It is common of kilnformed glass to have slight color shifts and small "champagne" bubbles.
