At the center of this piece is the Lucky in Love Heart, uniquely cast from hues of green transparent and opaque art glasses. The distinctive glass heart is positioned on a handmade, three-dimensional frame specifically designed to complement the heart. This particular frame is kilncarved from emerald, jade green and opaque mint glasses. The art work is hung using a two-part aluminum French cleat (included). Signed on reverse side. About Green:
While red is the color of luck in Chinese culture, in Ireland it is green. Someone with a green aura is said to have a deep love of nature, a strong affection for other people that they like and a special need to nuture and see things grow. The color green is also associated with money, health and envy.
How It's Made:
This unique, handmade art glass piece is created over several weeks incorporating various kilnforming techniques and processes including kiln casting, kilncarving, grinding, sandblasting and polishing. Four separate kiln firings are required to complete.
- All art work is handmade by Robert Wiener in the DC Art Glass Studio. Kilnforming is a method of shaping glass in a kiln using heat and gravity. Techniques used by the artist include fusing, slumping, casting, printmaking and coldworking. It is common of kilnformed glass to have slight color shifts and small "champagne" bubbles.
