The male Black & Blue Songbird is created from an opaque iridized black art glass. The rainbow iridized side is on the back. Accents are in cobalt, red and canary yellow. Closely related to the Black Graffiti Songbird. Display all year round. Approximate size: 5"w x 2.5"h x 3/8"d.
Incidental Bird Fact:
The Black-Throated Blue Warbler (a.k.a., BTBW), keeps its color as the seasons change. They are migratory, spending the winter in the Caribbean, especially Cuba, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica and Puerto Rico.
- All art work is handmade by Robert Wiener in the DC Art Glass Studio. Kilnforming is a method of shaping glass in a kiln using heat and gravity. Techniques used by the artist include fusing, slumping, casting, printmaking and coldworking. It is common of kilnformed glass to have slight color shifts and small "champagne" bubbles.
